Members of the Burke family were ejected from the Ireland Funds gala dinner in Washington DC last night, after they interrupted the event to protest about the jailing of teacher Enoch Burke for contempt of court. The black tie event was attended by Taoiseach Micheál Martin and several members of the United States Congress. Mr Burke’s mother Martina, his sister Ammi and brother Isaac had gained entry to the National Building Museum in central Washington DC towards the end of the formal proceeding

Members of the Burke family have been taken out of a gala dinner by police in Washington after attempting to disrupt the event which was attended by Taoiseach Micheál Martin. Martina Burke and her children Ammi and Isaac entered the Ireland Funds event and began shouting at the Taoiseach who was among the guests seated at the event.
