An online (or double conversion) UPS converts AC to DC then back to AC to power the equipment, so any surge should be absorbed by the UPS rather than the computers.

The socket protector would have to be levered back manually & a 2-pin plug would then have to be forced into a socket not only the wrong shape but also the wrong size. Dec 20, 2017 · You could use a ground plug adapter to do this, but you would need to trim the polarized neutral plug to fit in a non-polarized hole which is a bad idea. It will be fine for this season, but once you take your lights down for the season you'll forget that you have a modified adapter that could be reused for something else and hurt somebody.
