The State Department revoked the terrorist designation of Hayʼat Tahrir al-Sham, a group headed by the country’s new president, Ahmed al-Sharaa.

President Trump issued Executive Order 14312 (“E.O. 14312” or the “E.O.”) titled “Providing for the Revocation of Syria Sanctions,” which terminates, effective July 1, 2025, the longstanding U.S. sanctions program against Syria.

U.S. officials said sanctions against targets such as its central bank would end, but they would remain on Syria’s former dictator, Bashar al-Assad.
