Russell Findlay elected as leader of the Scottish Conservatives following bitter contest
Russell Findlay has been elected as the new leader of the Scottish Conservatives after winning a majority of votes in the first round. Mr Findlay secured a clear victory with 62 per cent of the vote, with Murdo Fraser coming second and Meghan Gallacher third.

The Scottish Conservatives have elected Russell Findlay as their new party leader. The former journalist defeated his Scottish Parliament colleagues Murdo Fraser and Meghan Gallacher. Findlay has been an MSP for the West of Scotland since 2021 and was the party's justice spokesman.

Russell Findlay has been elected the new leader of the Scottish Conservatives. The MSP saw off competition from Murdo Fraser and Meghan Gallacher in the bruising battle to replace Douglas Ross. Mr Findlay won by 2,565 votes. Mr Murdo placed second with 1,187 votes, while Ms Gallacher claimed third with 403 votes.
