A court in Rajasthan's Ajmer has issued notices to the Union Ministry of Minority Affairs and Archaeological Survey of India (ASI)

Civil Judge Manmohan Chandel issued notices after Hindu Sena chief Vishnu Gupta claimed in his petition that the dargah -- the mausoleum of Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti -- was a Shiva temple.

The suit, claiming that there is a Shiva temple in the dargah, was filed in September seeking directions to start the worship in the temple again

A Hindu group, Hindu Sena, has filed a lawsuit claiming the Ajmer dargah was built over a Shiva temple. They cite a 1911 book and seek an ASI survey, echoing the Gyanvapi and Krishna Janmabhoomi disputes.

An Ajmer court on Wednesday ordered the issuance of notices to three parties in a petition that claimed there is a Shiva temple inside Saint Moinuddin Chishti's dargah. The civil suit was filed in September.

Hindu Sena chief Vishnu Gupta, the plaintiff, has demanded that the Ajmer Sharif Dargah be declared as the "Sankat Mochan Mahadev Temple".
