There is rain on the way for the final day of January. Snow lovers don't click away just yet!  There is some wintry weather in the forecast Friday as well.The WBZ Weather team has issued a NEXT Weather Alert for Friday and Friday night.

Wednesday's weather system is expected to bring a few inches of snowfall accumulation to Massachusetts, according to the National Weather Service. Most of the state is currently forecast to see one to two inches of snow, while the western part of the state could see higher totals.

The National Weather Service is forecasting 2 to 3 inches of snow across the region. The best chance for the higher snowfall amounts may be in western and northern Massachusetts. Untreated roads may be snow covered and slippery for the Wednesday morning commute.

The WBZ Weather Team is issuing a NEXT Weather alert for a brief period of light to moderate snow on Wednesday morning.

Massachusetts communities to the north should see more snowfall totals than communities in the interior and along the coast.

Today will be one of the nicest days of the week. The morning started seasonably cool in the teens and 20s, but we’ll warm to the upper 30s under a sunny sky this afternoon. Gusts 20-30 mph will make it feel a tad cooler.
