Large sets of data are being scrubbed of references to transgender and LGBTQ people, among others, which could compromise their use in research

Health researchers began sharing warnings on social media several days ago, urging members of the community to make copies of federal data before the information was removed from the CDC website.

The CDC and other federal agencies appeared to be racing to meet a Friday afternoon deadline to remove “gender ideology” from their websites, in accordance with a memo from the Office of Personnel Management.

CDC webpages that appear to have been removed include statistics on HIV among transgender people and data on health disparities among gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender youth.
