Michigan stealing Bryce Underwood might end up being better for Brian Kelly and LSU, even if it stings now.

The offensive coordinator transition from Mike Denbrock, who left LSU after last season to return to Notre Dame, to Joe Sloan, who was promoted from quarterbacks coach to replace Denbrock, has not gone well. The Tigers are ninth in the SEC in yards per play (6.11) and 11th in points per game (28.6).

Brian Kelly isn't resting on his laurels after Bryce Underwood flipped to Michigan. The LSU head football coach has a plan for his Tigers to recover on the recruiting trail.

The Tigers already have four scholarship quarterbacks on their roster, including Nussmeier, redshirt freshman Rickie Collins, junior AJ Swann and freshman Colin Hurley. Swann transferred to LSU from Vanderbilt this past offseason, while Collins and Hurley were four-star signees.

The 2024 season hasn't turned out the way LSU planned. Barely qualifying for a bowl game. Missing the SEC championship and the 12-team College Football Playoff. Losing the No. 1 overall prospect who was slated to be the future at the quarterback position.

Kelly and Co. lost the commitment of Bryce Underwood last week, will still look to add a signal-caller this offseason.
