BJ's Wholesale Club shares rose Thursday morning after the warehouse retailer reported better third-quarter earnings than expected, announced a new stock buyback program, and its first membership fee hike in seven years.

MARLBOROUGH, Massachusetts — BJ’s Wholesale Club announced it will increase its membership fees at the beginning of the year, the chain’s first increase in seven years. A news release from BJ’s says the “Club” membership fee will increase by $5 to $60 per year, while the “Club+” membership will increase by $10 to $120 a year.

BJ’s Wholesale Club will be raising its fees in 2025 for the first time in seven years. The national chain announced the price increase on Thursday. The membership rates will rise from $10 to $20, depending on the tier and will go into effect Jan. 1, 2025.
