Smartphones allow almost anything to be available with the tap of a button.Over the last decade, there has been an increase in negative effects smartphones have on youth mental health, even in Mesa County.

New cell phone regulations will go into effect for Boulder Valley School District schools in January. The new policy will prohibit high students from using their cell phones during the entire school day.

Should students be allowed to use their cellphones in class? Should they even be allowed to have their mobile phones at school? Should the Elko County School District have a strict policy on cellphones?

Ramsey is believed to be the first time a Bergen County public school district has implement this type of program.

The policy said social media and technology are worsening student mental health and disrupting classroom learning.
