In a move termed as trade tsunami, set to upend international trade dynamics, President Donald Trump has declared an aggressive plan to impose reciprocal tariffs on India and other nations he accuses of exploiting the United States with exorbitant duties.

According to the office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR), US total goods trade with India was an estimated $129.2 billion in 2024. US goods exports to India in 2024 were $41.8 billion and US goods imports from India totaled $87.
