Meta is promising “long-overdue improvements” to its X competitor, Threads, including more precise search features and expanded trending topics. First, users will be able to search for posts within a specific date range or from a single account — similar to what X’s search allows.

Instagram head Adam Mosseri explained that the update will provide concise descriptions of trending topics, generated by Meta's AI systems, making it easier for users to understand ongoing discussions.

As Bluesky sees a significant surge in users, Meta’s X competitor Threads has been rapidly building out its platform, likely in response.

As competition among X alternatives heats up, Threads is introducing an expanded Trending Topics feature, as well as new AI Summaries and improved search tools.Users will now be able to search for posts within specific date ranges or search for posts from a single account.

The Meta-owned social media platform is also testing a new trending page that would include additional trending topics. It will further show AI-generated summaries of what users are saying regarding that topic, Mosseri said in a post. However, this feature appears to be limited to users in the US for now.
