Sgt. Nathan Karch told News 2 the 3-year-old bald eagle that was found shot in rural Sumner County earlier this month is recovering from a detached retina and pellets lodged in its wings and body.

SUMNER COUNTY, Tenn. (WZTV) — A juvenile bald eagle in Middle Tennessee was recued after being shot. The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) says officers responded in Sumner County to find the injured animal.

The eagle is expected to survive, however the TWRA said in a social media post that it would never be able to return to the wild.
