Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff has won the race for US Senate, beating his opponent, Republican baseball player Steve Garvey. The Associated Press called the race right at 8 p.m. when polls closed in California.

Donald Trump has treated Schiff as a major nemesis since the Jewish Democrat led impeachment proceedings against him.

Schiff’s win tonight means that with Sen. Alex Padilla, who was appointed to serve out the rest of Harris’ term in 2021 and won election himself in 2022, California has two male Senators for the first time since the first year of Bill Clinton’s presidency.
