Mayor Cherelle Parker has struck a one-year deal with its largest employee union, AFSCME District Council 33, after the blue-collar union voted to authorize a strike last week if its demands for better wages weren’t met.

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Philadelphia's largest city workers union says it has agreed to a one-year agreement to avert a strike. AFSCME District Council 33 President Greg Boulware made the announcement on Friday night during a press conference with Mayor Cherelle Parker.

The largest municipal employee union in Philadelphia, District Council 33, confirms they have reached an agreement with the City of Philadelphia, averting an authorized strike.

The agreement includes the highest pay raise with the union in over 30 years along with a one-time bonus and other benefits.
