Elon Musk’s X is intervening in the bankruptcy sale of conspiracy theorist Alex Jones’ Infowars, in what is believed to be the first time a social media platform has stepped in to a legal dispute over account ownership.

After fantasizing about buying MSNBC and installing Alex Jones on the liberal media network, Elon Musk inserted himself into a legal battle to try to block The Onion from obtaining any X accounts belonging to the bankrupt conspiracy theorist.

The Onion’s offer to buy right-wing provocateur Alex Jones’ Infowars platform, as part of a liquidation to pay off his debts to the families of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting victims, is on hold until a bankruptcy judge can approve it.

A Houston judge on Monday said he would hold a hearing in December to hear arguments about the Onion's bid to puchase Infowars.

Jones alleges fraud and collusion marred the bankruptcy auction in which The Onion was named the winning bidder on Nov. 14 over a company affiliated with him.

It also seems to be causing a stir with Elon Musk, who is reportedly trying to do all he can to block access to the InfoWars account on X by its new owner, The Onion. X trying to block transfer of platform’s InfoWars accounts to the Onion — The Guardian (@theguardian.
