The Gophers fell to 6-5, 4-4 Big Ten, while Penn State (10-1, 7-1) stayed alive for a good spot in the expanded College Football Playoff race. Gophers quarterback Max Brosmer had not turned the ball over since September, but he threw his first interception in 206 attempts in the first half. It led to a Penn State field goal.

The Gophers football team put up a valiant effort and had a chance to win the game in the final minutes, but ultimately it couldn't pull off the upset, falling 26-25 to No. 4 Penn State Saturday at Huntington Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.

However, the Gophers offense was shut down by Penn State's defense in a three-and-out and the Nittany Lions carried that momentum on offense, going five plays for 57 yards before Nicholas Singleton rushed for a 12-yard touchdown to give Penn State their first lead of the night, 23-22.

Penn State came out sleeping its way to an early 10-0 deficit in the first half, and it was a constant battle to climb its way to a 23-22 lead in the third quarter. Penn State held a 26-25 lead after the Gophers kicked a field goal on its final possession of the game,

The Minnesota football team gave No. 4 Penn State all it could handle, but a few costly turnovers helped the Nittany Lions squeak by 26-25 Saturday afternoon at Huntington Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.

The penalty helped the Nittany Lions move the ball into Minnesota's territory and ultimately scored via an Allar four-yard touchdown run. However, the Gophers came through with another block, this time on the extra point, and returned it all the way back for two points to give them a 19-16 lead before the half.
