The New York Jets announced the hiring of Tanner Engstrand as their next offensive coordinator on Friday, continuing to raid the Detroit Lions' cupboard in the process.

Engstrand joins former Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn in leaving Detroit for the Jets, and joins Glenn's new staff in New York. Former Lions tight ends coach Steve Heiden also left to become the Jets' offensive line coach. This will be the first time Engstrand serves as an offensive coordinator in the NFL.

The hiring cycle has been a long process for the Jets after firing head coach Robert Saleh and general manager Joe Douglas during the season. New York interviewed over 30 candidates in total between their two big openings before finally settling on Mougey and Aaron Glenn.
