The Shalimar Express, traveling from Lahore to Karachi, derailed near Shahdara area of Punjab's Lahore disctrict on Thursday, causing three of its coaches to go off track. The derailment, which took place near Barkat Town, narrowly avoided a major catastrophe, a local news channel reported.

As per the details, the railway officials said that engineering department teams reached the site of the incident and relief operations are being conducted.

A polio eradication campaign will commence across various cities in Punjab on February 3. The campaign will continue until February 9 in Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Faisalabad, while in other districts, it will conclude on February 7.
