Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum shared a letter to Google, arguing that the tech giant should follow rules set by the U.N. that relate to naming bodies of water

Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum sent a letter to Google contesting the tech giant’s decision to comply with US President Donald Trump’s order to rename the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America.

Sheinbaum made the case that Google should not bend to “the mandate of a country” attempting to change the name of an international sea. “For us it is still the Gulf of Mexico, and for the entire world it is still the Gulf of Mexico,” she said.
