Free agent guard Courtney Vandersloot is headed back to Chicago, her agent confirmed to The Associated Press on Wednesday. The veteran guard will sign with the team that drafted her in 2011 after spending the last two seasons in New York, agent Lindsay Kagawa Colas said. WNBA free agents can’t sign contracts until Feb. 1.

Vandersloot was the No. 3 overall pick by the Chicago Sky out of Gonzaga in the 2011 WNBA Draft. She played with the Sky for 12 seasons, winning a title with the Sky in the 2021 season where her turnaround jumper sealed the win in Game 4.
Vandersloot is an unrestricted free agent after playing the last two seasons with the New York Liberty, helping them win the 2024 WNBA championship. Prior to her run with the New York franchise, she spent 12 seasons with the Sky after being drafted third overall in 2011.
Although Sloot has only been gone two seasons, she returns to a new look Sky roster led by young star Angel Reese, who averaged 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds per game as a rookie last year - finishing second in Rookie of the Year voting to Caitlin Clark.
