DANBURY — In late August, educators in the preschool wing at Ellsworth Avenue School were preparing their classrooms for a new group of students, many of them returning, for the new school year.

For Westlake City Schools, this means children must be 5 years old on or before Aug. 25 to register for kindergarten for the 2026-27 school year. That’s the district’s first day of instruction.
