He said Magee went to a nearby Walmart shortly before he died. That is where he is believed to have bought the rope found around his neck. There is not a lynching in Vance County.

The sheriff's office released surveillance footage Monday of Magee buying a "blue in color Ozark Trail rope" from the self-checkout lane at the Henderson Walmart on Sept. 10.

Javion Magee, 21, was found dead against a tree with a rope around his neck in Henderson, NC on Wednesday after making a delivery at the Walmart Distribution Center.
