H ENDERSON, N.C. (WNCN) — The Vance County Sheriff’s Office has released surveillance video from a Henderson Walmart in connection with the investigation of the death of Javion Magee.

He said Magee went to a nearby Walmart shortly before he died. That is where he is believed to have bought the rope found around his neck. There is not a lynching in Vance County.

The sheriff's office released surveillance footage Monday of Magee buying a "blue in color Ozark Trail rope" from the self-checkout lane at the Henderson Walmart on Sept. 10.

In the truck, investigators found a Walmart receipt and Magee’s identification. Investigators also reached out to KLLM Trucking, which tracked the movements of the tractor being driven by Magee.
