A magnitude 4.5 earthquake has rattled southern Texas in the vicinity of San Antonio, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) reported. The quake struck at 9.26 p.m. on Wednesday, at a depth of about 2.3 miles beneath its epicenter on the surface, which lay roughly 12 miles east-northeast of Falls City.

"We're going to pass it out before next Wednesday and we're going to send it over there like a rocket ship next week," Patrick said.

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) has purchased 2,020 acres of land in Burnet County, north-west of Austin, which it plans to use for a new state park. The land cost $35 million and was funded via money raised from sporting goods sales tax and a one-time funding appropriation, according to The Dallas Morning News.
