Sunrisers Hyderabad opened their account with the buy of Indian pacer Mohammed Shami for Rs 10 crore on Day 1 of the IPL 2024 Mega Auction in Jeddah on Sunday. Sunrisers Hyderabad was founded in 2012 when Kalanithi Maran-owned Sun Group bought the franchise Deccan Chargers for Rs 85 crore per year for a 5-year deal.

Mohammed Shami was released by the Gujarat Titans ahead of the mega auction, after serving the franchise for the last three seasons

Shami previously played for Gujarat Titans and even after a stellar performance in the World Cup as well as the Domestic circuit, Shami wasn't retained by Titans.
