In an effort to control the Grand Canyon National Park's bison population, 100 of the hump-backed, shaggy herd animals were relocated last week. According to the National Park, its wildlife managers moved the 100 bison from the park's North Rim to South Dakota's Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe on Sept.

GRAND CANYON (KTNV) — A group of bison from Grand Canyon National Park have found a new home. On Friday, wildlife managers relocated 100 bison from the North Rim and they were transferred to the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe in South Dakota. It's part of a partnership with the Intertribal Buffalo Council.

Efforts to reduce the size of the North Rim bison herd, 100 bison were relocated from Grand Canyon National Park to South Dakota.

A bison herd on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon continues to grow, prompting wildlife officials to send 100 of the wild animals to the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe in South Dakota.
