Hurricane Helene strengthens to 'extremely dangerous' category four as it nears Florida
A number of evacuation orders are in place across Florida as the state prepares for the arrival of Hurricane Helene. The storm had grown into a category three hurricane and is expected to make landfall south of state capital Tallahassee as a category four hurricane later on Thursday.
Category 4 Helene made landfall just east of the mouth of the Aucilla River, about 10 miles west-southwest of Perry, Florida.
At least 22 deaths have been reported and millions are without power in six states as Helene makes its way inland.
