General Motors is set to become the first U.S. automaker with a Formula 1 team when a Cadillac-branded team joins the racing series in 2026, F1 announced Monday, ending a years-long battle between the series and former driver Michael Andretti, who initially proposed a GM expansion.

A Cadillac team is set to be part of Formula 1 racing in 2026, and it won't just be the American luxury brand's name on the cars competing against the likes of Ferrari and Mercedes in coming years.

Cadillac would be the first new team to join F1 since 2016. The Las Vegas race marks the third and final stop this year for F1 in the United States. The US. has three races, in Miami; Austin, Texas; and Las Vegas. That is more than any other country.
