More than 6 million Florida voters, representing 57% of the vote, cast their ballot in favor of Amendment 4 on Election Day Tuesday. Yet, the abortion measure failed to pass despite 1.5 million more Floridians voting "yes" on the amendment rather than "no."

DeSantis and opponents to Amendment 4 argued the ballot measure's authors are "lying" to Floridians, and words used, like "health care provider" and "viability" leave too much room for "outsiders" and unqualified practitioners to come to Florida and perform unsafe procedures.

A ballot measure seeking to legalize abortion in Florida narrowly failed Tuesday even as a majority of Floridians supported it, becoming the first abortion ballot measure to fail since Roe v.
