From the Cascades to the coast, we are wrapping up the work week with some of the nicest weather in a long time across the Pacific Northwest. Temperatures on Friday afternoon were in the low 60s along the coastline under a warm easterly offshore wind.

A state recreation area on Oregon's south coast has been closed due to a stranded vessel that washed ashore near Port Orford. Paradise Point State Recreation Site is closed, likely until around Jan. 23, to allow removal and cleanup of the craft.

In beautiful Rockaway Beach, this 1.2-mile, out-and-back boardwalk trail is one of the most scenic and accessible hikes in Oregon. The wooden boardwalk ventures into the lush and verdant forests of the Oregon Coast, a unique ecosystem of towering giants and emerald ferns, unruly mosses, and primeval swamps and marshes.

A state park on the southern Oregon coast has shut down due to a stranded boat. The Oregon Parks and Recreation Department closed Paradise Point State Recreation Site on Wednesday after a crabbing boat became stranded on the beach Sunday morning, park officials said.

A commercial helicopter crashed near Logsden on Jan. 17, the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office said. The crash happened in a cow pasture at about 8:37 a.m. on Jan. 15. The pilot suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Who says the Oregon Coast is all about rain in the winter? While the valley deals with fog and cooler temperatures, the coast is experiencing sunny skies and temperatures as high as the 60s as light offshore flow increases over the next few days.

On Monday at 12:26 a.m. the National Weather Service released an updated beach hazards statement in effect until 4 p.m. for South Central Oregon Coast and Curry County Coast.
