Former Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews revealed his travels to India in search of cures for the inflammatory and immune system issues that have sidelined him in two of the past four seasons in an Instagram post Thursday.

He was not re-signed by the Blackhawks at the end of the 2022-23 season when the eight-year contract he signed on July 9, 2014, expired. His final game with the Blackhawks was a 5-4 overtime loss to the Philadelphia Flyers on April 14, 2023.

Jonathan Toews shared on his Instagram page that he spent weeks in India trying to heal immune system issues. Toews said that he underwent an Ayurvedic detox called Panchakarma.

Former Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews hasn’t appeared in an NHL game since April 2023, but provided fans with an update on his exploits this week.

Toews revealed that he's been in India for healing and that it's been trending. It seems that Toews is taking a very unique approach to getting his body and mind to where it needs to be following the health issues that he's been dealing with for almost five years.

Toews wrote Thursday he "recently spent five weeks in India undergoing an Ayurvedic detox called a Panchakarma."
