Ald. Ronnie Mosley (21st) said the closure is a breaking of a promise that Aldi would remain in the neighborhood.

The grocery store chain’s first store on Cape Cod is part of the company’s $9 billion national expansion over the next five years, according to its website. The Northeast is slated to have many more stores opening as part of that expansion.

The discount grocery store Aldi is opening in Falmouth, becoming the store’s first location on the Cape on Thursday.

Best known for its quirky offerings and everyday low prices, the discount grocer is making its debut on Cape Cod.

The city has selected a development to replace an Aldi that closed abruptly in 2021, leaving 15,000 residents without access to a local grocer.

A new Aldi opened in Sussex with the help of a Paralympic medallist. The shop in Tanbridge Retail Park in Horsham is the town’s first Aldi and officially welcomed customers through its doors yesterday morning.
