Brian Thompson, 50, was outside the hotel on Sixth Avenue when the suspect shot him in the chest and leg around 6:45 a.m.

The chief executive of UnitedHealthcare, one the nation’s largest insurers, was killed in midtown Manhattan in what police described as a targeted attack by a shooter outside a hotel where the company
