A man who authorities said was upset over his divorce settlement rammed his car into a crowd of people exercising at a sports complex in southern China, killing 35 and severely injuring dozens of others,

The attack took place Monday when police said 62-year-old man drove an SUV into a group of people outside a sports stadium in the city of Zhuhai.

The driver was apprehended as he tried to flee, local authorities said, adding that an initial investigation suggested he was resentful over a divorce settlement.
