A water main break on the Upper West Side disrupted subway service on the busy B and C lines Wednesday afternoon. A and D service was also impacted.

The water main break, which happened around 1:45 p.m., also flooded the roadway in the area, snarling vehicular traffic, police said.

Rescue crews evacuated passengers from at least one stranded subway train after a water-main break halted service on the B and C lines and severely reduced service on the A and D lines.
