Disney’s “Moana 2” cemented a new Thanksgiving box office record with $225 million over the five-day holiday frame, obliterating the previous high-water marks set by 2019’s “Frozen II” ($125 million) and 2013’s “Hunger Games: Catching Fire” ($109 million).

"Wicked," "Gladiator II," and "Moana 2" contributed to the $420 million raked in over the five-day period — the best-ever Thanksgiving box office sales.

Moana 2 has already emerged as a behemoth in both domestic and international box offices and set several records, despite the lukewarm responses from the critics. The movie had its global premiere on November 21,
