Merlin Entertainments to invest over $110m in Minecraft-themed attractions
Microsoft has entered a deal with UK-based theme park operator Merlin Entertainments to open Minecraft-themed attractions, hotel rooms, and stores in the UK and US. As reported by The Guardian, Merlin will invest more than $110 million in the first two attractions, which are expected to open in the UK and US in 2026 and 2027.
Minecraft Is Finally Getting The Theme Park Treatment, But Not How You'd Expect
Merlin runs the Legoland theme parks, as well as theme parks in the UK, Italy, and Germany, including Alton Towers Resort and Gardaland Resort. Merlin also operates what it calls "Gateway" attractions, which include Madame Tussauds, Sea Life, and attractions themed around brands like Peppa Pig and Shrek.
