The IPL 2025 mega auction unfolded in Jeddah over two days on 24 and 25 November, with teams picking from a shortlist of 577 players. Lucknow Super Giants made history, securing Rishabh Pant for a record-breaking Rs 27 crore.

The 2024 IPL mega auction saw some aggressive bidding, record purchases and interesting trends and patterns over the course of the two days in Jeddah.

The IPL 2025 auction saw a whopping ₹639.15 crore being spent, breaking the previous record of ₹551.70 crore in 2022. Teams filled up to 182 out of the 204 slots available. Punjab Kings, who had the biggest purse of ₹110.

The IPL 2025 Auctions saw that some of the former captains not make their way back to the previous franchises. KKR did bid for Shreyas Iyer but backed out and allowed him to join PBKS in the end.

Rajasthan spent Rs 5.25 crore on Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga. Maheesh Theekshana was roped in as another spin-bowling option. RR forked out Rs 4.20 crore to take Nitish Rana on board. Fazalhaq Farooqi was acquired at his base price of Rs 2 crore.

The heavy English flavour to RCB squad is provided by Livingstone, Bethell and Salt. Their superstar, Kohli, could be seen captaining the unit once again as RCB chase the elusive crown.
