The Hoosiers extended their lead to as many as 7 points in the first half and ultimately carried a 41-37 lead into the break. Indiana outrebounded Purdue 19-12 and shot 55% from the floor. Purdue junior guard Braden Smith led all scorers with 14 points, followed closely by Goode.

Intrastate rivals collide Friday night at Mackey Arena, when the 10th-ranked Purdue Boilermakers host a Big Ten matchup with the Indiana Hoosiers.

Boilermakers forward Trey Kaufman-Renn hit the go-ahead basket with 11 seconds to go to give his team a 81-76 win. The teams traded baskets in the final 30 seconds with Trey Galloway giving IU the briefest of leads with a floater in the lane.

Purdue is averaging 36.2 points per game prior to halftime, while Indiana’s first-half defense is one of the worst in the nation, with opponents averaging 36.5 points. The Boilermakers have scored at least 41 first-half points in all four home games in conference play and will again here.
