Alex Delvecchio, a three-time Stanley Cup champion and Detroit Red Wings legend who spent his entire 24-year NHL career with the franchise, has died. He was 93. The Delvecchio family released this statement through the Red Wings:

Playing with stars Gordie Howe and Ted Lindsay, he helped lead Detroit to three Stanley Cup titles, later serving as the Red Wings’ coach and GM.

Cunningham, the Indiana Fever guard, questioned whether players would be excited to play in Detroit, which was awarded a WNBA franchise Monday.

The city of Detroit had a WNBA team — three-time WNBA champion Detroit Shock —from 1998-2009 before they moved to Oklahoma until 2015. After six seasons, the franchise moved again — this time to Dallas. The City of Detroit’s official X account fired back at Cunningham’s comments.
