Indian benchmark equity indices traded lower on Thursday, tracking the decline in global markets as concerns over US economic policies and the outlook for interest rates weighed on sentiment. Read on to know what exactly triggered the crash.

Infosys fell 2.86 per cent to Rs 1,869.16. Tech Mahindra, HCL Tech and TCS fell 2.68 per cent, 1.91 per cent and 1.42 per cent, respectively. M&M fell 2.52 per cent to Rs 2,934.7. The auto major recently unveiled of two electric SUV models.

At 11:36 am, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 769.60 points at 79,464.48, while the NSE Nifty50 fell 221.15 points to 24,053.75.

BSE Sensex and Nifty50, the Indian equity benchmark indices, rallied strongly in trade on Monday. While the BSE Sensex surged over 1,300 points, Nifty50 crossed 24,350 intraday.

The 30-share BSE Sensex pack surged more than 1,300 points to hit above 80,450 level, while the broader NSE Nifty index moved around 400 points to trade above 24,300. Last checked, Sensex was up 1,261 points or 1.

The S P BSE Sensex was up 1192.49 points to 80,309.60, while the NSE Nifty50 was up 411.85 points to 24,319.10.
