A city's railway and bus station have been evacuated due to a bomb scare. Chester station closed at about 18:00 GMT and a police cordon was put up around it, with no buses running from the nearby bus interchange. National Rail has confirmed some train lines have resumed after the station was closed following the alert.

The bus station was evacuated around 1.10pm on Wednesday (November 20) as emergency services swarmed the scene and an EOD robot has now been sent in amid an ongoing bomb scare.

A bomb squad robot was deployed at a city centre bus station to bring to an end a major security scare. Chester's bus and railway stations were evacuated and shut at 17:00 GMT on Friday as detectives investigated "suspicious activity on two buses".
