The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has crossed the majority mark as leads roll in for the Delhi assembly election results. Trends at 11:15 am show the BJP getting 42 seats, while AAP settles for 28. The trends have sparked a meme fest on social media with internet users taking a jab at Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party and Congress.

Despite the bleak numbers, Congress leader Vishesh Tokas remained optimistic, claiming that the party would play a crucial role in government formation.

BJP MP accused former Arvind Kejriwal of stopping Prime Minister Narendra Modi from bringing development to Delhi.

According to the Election Commission of India, AAP’s senior leader and two-time MLA Amanatullah Khan is currently leading with 8,725 votes and Shifa Ur Rehman Khan, AIMIM candidate is trailing by 8,725 votes.

The BJP took quick lead in early trends and crossed majority mark of 36 shortly after Election Commission began counting of votes at 8 am. AAP's leads were fluctuating, however, the party slightly narrowed gap against BJP and was ahead in 29 seats at 11 am.

In early trends, BJP’s Shikha Roy leads AAP’s Saurabh Bharadwaj by 4,049 votes. BJP leads in 43 of 70 Delhi seats, while AAP leads in 27. Delhi recorded a 60.54% voter turnout in the February 5 election.

The counting of votes for the high-stakes Delhi Assembly elections will begin shortly.The AAP is aiming for a third consecutive term, while the BJP is making all efforts to return to power after more than two decades in the National Capital.
