I will be traveling on the Rocky Mountaineer in September 2024 from Banff to Vancouver. What are the transportation options getting back to Banff after the train trip?
We’re planning 2 days on the Rocky Mountaineer in May next year. We plan to begin at Vancouver & stopover at Kamloops, finishing at Banff or Jasper. There seems to be 2 routes - ‘Journey through the Clouds’ and ‘First Passage to the West’. How do we choose? Does one of these trips have more likelihood of spotting bears & other animals? Thank you.

We were supposed to travel from Vancouver to Jasper (stopover at Kamloops), but were rerouted to Banff due wildfires in Jasper. We were informed of the itinerary change before our trip. I cannot compare the 2 routes having only been on one. However, I highly recommend this trip. The scenery was quite different from the first day to the second, but beautiful both days. We saw many bald eagles and other wildlife. The service on the Rocky Mountaineer is outstanding. The food is excellent and all of the hosts and guides are amazing.
